Thanks
Fentress County...
Before
we get into the 2008 schedule we would like to first of all take this
opportunity to thank the fine folks of Fentress County who contributed
to the winning of Champion of Champions Fair for 2007. It is because
of the many, many volunteers, the spectators, the individuals who participate
and enter exhibits that made it possible. We actually competed against
two other larger fairs for this title and was overhelmed when our name
was called out. Actually it isn't ever as simple as having your named
called out... They really enjoy keeping you in suspense imagine sitting
at a banquet with a few hundred people all of which represent a fair
somewhere in the fine state of Tennessee (part of the Tennessee Association
of Fairs). You know that your fair is up for this title, but in the
same thought you remember you are the smallest of the three fairs. With
Fentress County a single "A" fair competing against "AA"
Warren County Fair and a "AAA" Wilson County Fair. As you
sit there with your fingers crossed, maybe even holding your breath
as they begin to describe little details of your hometown fair, with
each detail you think, that sounds like us, then you look at the person
sitting next to you and you say "we did that" but your mind
plays tricks and you don't want to jump to any conclusion. Then the
announcer said "this fairs theme was 'High Stepin in 2007' Fentress
County Fair is your 2007 Champion of Champion Fair" It was really
exciting and nice to see our Fairest of the Fair Katy Bradfield cut
through the crowd to accept the that big trophy. We can never think
Fentress County enough. As past director Jimmy Johnson always said "it's
not a I or me thing it is a we thing" he said it best because this
title would have been awarded to someone else without you!
